SUBJECT : Cyclone Alert for North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coasts :

The Severe cyclonic storm, ‘JAL’ remained practically stationary and lay centered at 1430 hrs IST of today, the 6th November 2010, over southwest Bay of Bengal near lat.10.50N and long. 85.00E about 450 km east-northeast of Trincomalee (Sri Lanka), 550 km east-southeast of Chennai and 700 km southeast of Nellore. It would intensify further, move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore close to Chennai by 7th November 2010 night. 


Cyclone ‘JAL’ over at Southeast of Bay of Bengal. The cyclonic storm, ‘JAL’ over southeast Bay of Bengal moved northwestwards and lay centered at 1730 hrs IST of today, the Cyclone at present 550 km east-southeast of Chennai and 700 km southeast of NELLORE It would intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm. The system would move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu and south Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore close to Chennai by 7th November 2010 night. The Rain occur at most places as heavy to very heavy falls over north coastal Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south coastal Andhra Pradesh from morning of 7th November 2010. The winds speed reaching from 55-65 kmph to 75 kmph in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and south Andhra Pradesh coast from morning of 7th November 2010 and increase upto 120-130 kmph to 140 kmph at the time of landfall. Sea conditions will be very rough to high.
